Azkar, athkar, or adhkar is a plural form of the word Zikr or Dhikr which is a reference to the memory of Allah. Muslims are required to be mindful of Allah throughout the day. They are also asked to perform azkar at the time they get up until they go to bed. Certain of these azkars are used to ask forgiveness from Allah.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allahu al-azim’ one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea”
