Dua For The Sick | Dua For Shifa – Muslims are taught the human condition is fragile, weak and prone to sickness. All of us are sick at some point or another, with some being more severely than others. While medical technology has made great strides in curing and preventing illness Many people also feel a sense of peace in praying when sickness is a problem.

Muslims believe that illness is not an act of punishment by Allah however, rather an opportunity to test oneself and purify oneself of wrongs. Are you able to keep your faith in spite of your health issues? Do you see your health issues as a source of desperation or as an opportunity seek out Allah to seek healing and mercy?

AMAZONE PRICE:

Muslims are able to say private prayers ( du’a) in any language, however those from Islamic practice are the most well-known. Here are a few Muslim prayers to help heal your health.

Du’a From the Quran

Dua For The Sick | Dua For Shifa – It is believed that the Islamic prophet Ayyub is similar to Job from Job’s story in the Judeo-Christian Old Testament, and He suffered greatly and graciously. This is his du’a, from the Quran: “‘An-nee mas-sa-ni-yaD-Dur-ru wa ‘AN-ta ‘Ar-Ha-mur-raa-Hi-meen.“(Truly distress has seized me, but You are Most Merciful of those that are merciful. ) –Quran 21:83-84

Du’as From the Sunnah

Dua For The Sick | Dua For Shifa – When the first Muslims were sick and needed help, they sought advice from the Prophet Muhammad himself. If someone was sick the Prophet would say one of these four du’as in support of them.

  1. It is recommended that you touch the pain area by using your right hand while praying this supplication: ” Allahuma rabbi-nas adhhabal ba’sa, ashfi wa entashafi, la shifa’ illa shifa’uka shifa’ la yughadiru saqama.” (Oh Allah!(Oh Allah! The Sustainer of Mankind! Get rid of the illness, and treat the illness. You are the one who can cure. There is only one cure: Your cure. Give us the cure that will not cause sickness.)
  2. The following du’a is repeated seven times ” ‘As’alu Allah al ‘azim rabbil ‘arshil azim an yashifika.” (I I ask Allah the Mighty King of the Mighty Throne, to heal you.)
  3. Rabbana ‘atinaa fid dunyaa hasanat wafil aakhirati hasana taw wa qinaa azaaban near.” (Oh Allah! Our Lord and Sustainer! Give us good fortune in this life and better in the future and deliver us from the fire from Jahannam (Hell).)
  4. This du’a must be recited when the sick person puts their hands on the site of discomfort. “bismillah,” the phrase “bismillah” should be repeated three times. The entire supplication must be recited seven times ” A’oozu bi’izzatillaahi wa qudratihi min sharri maa ajidu wa uhaaziru.” (I pray for protection from the strength that is Allah as well as His strength to protect me from the darkness of what I am going through and my fears.)

It is also believed that if someone became sick and fell ill, the Prophet would say one of these duas for them.

Dua #1

It is suggested to recite this prayer as the person suffering from illness place their hand on the region of discomfort. Repeat “bismillah” three times, and then the whole prayer is repeated seven times.

“I seek protection in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what I am experiencing and of what I fear.”

If I repeat this to the children in my life, I will mention their names, or if there are several of us sick, I’ll add at the end “I’m saying it “…for myself as well as my spouse and my kids”. I also ask my child to repeat the mantra as well.

Dua #2

It is suggested to massage the pain area by using your right hand as you repeat this mantra:

“Oh Allah! The Sustainer of Mankind! Eliminate the disease, cure the illness. You are the only one who can cure. You are the only cure but Your cure. Give me an answer that does not leave any disease .”

Dua #3

It is recommended that you repete the following dua seven times:

“I ask Allah, the Mighty, the Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure you.”

I’ll make these two duas for my children or spouse when they’re sick. I will also repeat it for myself, changing”you” from “you” to “me” or “me” to “us” according to the person who is sick.

Dua #4

It’s a good idea to mention this duet because it’s all-encompassing. It is more than receiving good, not just in this worldly life, but also in the afterlife too. The scholars have cited these kinds of dua as beneficial for our overall wellbeing.

“Oh Allah! Our Lord and Sustainer! We ask you to grant us peace in this world , and better in the future and keep us out of hellfire. Fire of Hell.

Dua #5

Abu Darda (R.A) narrated that he had heard the Prophet mention,

“If any of you is suffering from anything or his brother is suffering, he should say, ‘Our Lord is Allah Who is in the Heaven, holy is Your name, Your command reigns supreme in the heaven and the earth, as Your mercy in the heaven, make Your mercy in the earth; forgive us our sins and our errors; You are the Lord of good men; send down mercy from Your mercy, and remedy from Your remedy on this pain so that it is healed up.”‘ (Abu Dawud)

Dua #6

The following dua I learnt via Shaykh Yahya Rheodus who describes it as an “prayer for healing”. We know that whenever we ask for healing, the prophet and family get the same reward.

“Oh Allah bless and bestow peace on Sayyidina Muhammed. She is the one who teaches us the way of the religion. Oh Allah grant peace and blessings on Sayyidina Muhammed and by his rank eliminate from me all disease, pain and illness, as well as on his family and his companions.

Dua #7

The following dua is a prayer to the Prophet Ayub (A.S) who was suffering from leprosy for a long time. The dua he prayed for was the one that Allah SWT healed him of the terrible illness – so imagine how effective it could be for any other disease.

“Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.” (Quran)

Dua #8

This dua was one Prophet Muhammad used to speak whenever he was in distress. He would pray to Allah with one of His most revered names Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum (O’ Living O’ Sustaining).

“O’ Living, O’ Sustaining, in Your Mercy I seek relief!” (Tirmidhi)

He also advised his child Fatima (R.A) to tell her in the morning and at night:

“O Living, O Sustaining, by Your Mercy I seek relief, rectify for me all of my affairs and do not leave me to myself, even for the blink of an eye.” (Hakim)
