Dua for Breaking Fast in Ashura

Duas For Breaking Fast – Iftar Dua -The appearance of the moon’s crescent will lead to the start in the month Ramadan. If you are able to see the new moon, you must say the following Dua:

Apart from Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to observe a fast all year during the most significant Islamic dates, especially during Ashura.

Ashura (also known as”the “tenth day,” is the name used to describe the 10 day of Muharram which is the month that begins in the Islamic calendar. While Ashura is associated with the tragic death of Imam Hussain and his family however, the fast observed on Ashura is long before the tragic incident.

According to SahihBukhari, the Prophet Muhammad () observed a fast during the nine 10th as well as the 10 days of Muharram to mark historic Islamic occasions such as the breaking up of the oceans by Hazrat Musa, and the release to the Pharaoh.

In Medina in Medina, Jews observed a fast at the time of the 10 of the day of Muharram to commemorate the day. The Prophet also chose to fast on this day because the day holds significance to Islam too. However he decided to observe a fast during the nine 9 and 10 day to differentiate himself from Jews.

Here are some Ahadith from reliable sources which show that Allah’s messenger ate fast during the Ashur day: Ashur: It was reported from `Ali (rDy llh nh) that the Messenger of Allah () used to fast on the day of Ashoora and encouraged others to follow suit — Musnad Ahmad, 1069.

Narrated by A’isha (raDiya ‘llaWhu anha) that people were required to be fasting on the days ‘Ashura’ prior to when the fasting of Ramadan was permitted, however when (the the order for compulsory fasting during) Ramadan was revealed, it was the individual’s decision to choose whether to fast on it (i.e. ‘Ashura’) or not – Sahih al-Bukhari 4502

Abu Qatadah narrated that the Prophet had said: “Fast the Day of Ashura, for indeed I anticipate that Allah will forgive (the sins of) the year before it.” — Jami at-Tirmidhi 752

As per Abu Hurairah that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) declared the following “The best of fasts after Ramadan is in the Month of Muharram.” — Tirmidhi 740

While the dua used to open your fast will be the same regardless of whether it’s Ramadan or Ashura There is an additional dua you could say when you are making the decision to break the fast Ashura:

Dua for Breaking Fast Ashura: Allahumma inni asaluka birtahmatikal latii wasiat kulla shayeen an-taghfira-lee.

Ashura Dua For Breaking Fast in English: O Allah! I pray to You for forgiveness that covers everything in order that You can be able to forgive me.

Once you’ve read the article, you’ll be aware of the Dua you must make before breaking your fast. It is mandatory to observe a fast during Ramadan so long as you’re in good health. But unlike Ramadan the fasting of Ashura is not a requirement.

Whatever the occasion, whether it’s Ramadan and on Ashura The purpose of fasting is asking Allah to forgive us for our wrongdoing and to earn His favor through abstention from eating or sins as well as all impure actions. The prayer of the prayer for fasting must be to beg Allah for his acceptance of our Ibadat and to reward it.
