What a woman makes is considered to be her source of income. But, it is advised to share the costs of the family, mainly when it is challenging to live in today.

In his reply to your query In his response to your question, sheik Muhammad Nur Abdullah, President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and a member of the Fiqh Council of North America In his response, states:

It is a fact that what the wife earns is her earnings. Allah Almighty says,

“To the men is the amount they earn, and to women, what they earn. But, you must ask God for His blessings. Because God is the only one who knows everything.” (An-Nisa 4:32)

It is also known that Abdullah Ibn Masud’s wife (may Allah be pleased with his) was employed to earn an income. One day, she sought out God’s Messenger (peace and peace be upon him) to see whether she could give the money she earned to her husband. The prophet (peace and blessings on his soul) responded, “Yes, and you are going to be rewarded twice.”(An-Nasa’i)

In light of the difficult financial situation many people are in, It is recommended that women contribute to the family’s budget by sharing a portion of household costs.
