Why is Prayer Important?

“حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ”
Arabic (Qur’an 2:238):حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ
Transliteration:
Ḥāfiẓū ʿalā aṣ-ṣalawāti waṣ-ṣalāti l-wus’ṭā wa-qūmū lillāhi qānitīn
English Translation (Saheeh International):
MAINTAIN WITH CARE THE [OBLIGATORY] PRAYERS
AND [IN PARTICULAR] THE MIDDLE PRAYER
AND STAND BEFORE ALLAH, DEVOUTLY OBEDIENT.

How to Perform Salah and What to Say in Arabic?
I will teach you how to perform Salah and give you the necessary Arabic slogans, which will enable you to connect more with the spirit and exercise such a beautiful way of worship.
Step 1: Facing the Qibla
One should face the Qibla (the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca) and the whole body is directed towards it, with no deviation.
Step 2: Intention (Niyyah)
Prepare the purpose of your heart in the kind of prayer that you are about to accomplish. This does not require this intention to be uttered.
Step 3: Takbir al-Ihram
Hold your hands up so as to be at the height of your shoulders and say:

الله أكبر | Allahu Akbar |
Step 4: Placing Hands and Opening Supplication
Lay your right hand across your left hand upon your chest and repeat the preliminary prayer:

اللهم باعد بيني وبين خطاياي كما باعدت بين المشرق والمغرب | Allahumma ba’id bayni wa bayna khatayaya kama ba’adta bayna al-mashriqi wal-maghrib |
اللهم نقني من خطاياي كما ينقى الثوب الأبيض من الدنس | Allahumma naqini min khatayaya kama yunaqqa ath-thawb al-abyad min ad-danas |
اللهم اغسلني من خطاياي بالماء والثلج والبرد | Allahumma ighsilni min khatayaya bil-ma’i wath-thalji wal-barad |
Step 5: Seeking Refuge
Say:

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم | A’udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim |
Step 6: Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha
Recite Surah Al-Fatiha:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ | Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim |
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ | Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil ‘alamin |
الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ | Ar-Rahman ir-Rahim |
مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ | Maliki yawmi ad-din |
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ | Iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’in |
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ | Ihdinas-siratal mustaqim |
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ | Sirat al-ladhina an’amta ‘alayhim ghayril-maghdubi ‘alayhim wala ad-dallin |
Say “Ameen” after completing Surah Al-Fatiha.
Step 7: Reciting Additional Surah
Recite any additional Surah of The Holy quran or verses from the Holy Quran. For example, Surah Al-Ikhlas:

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ | Qul huwa Allahu Ahad |
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ | Allahu as-Samad |
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ | Lam yalid wa lam yulad |
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ | Walam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad |
Step 8: Ruku (Bowing)
Bow down while saying Allah Akbar “الله أكبر”, then say:

سبحان ربي العظيم (x3) | Subhana Rabbiyal ‘Azim |
Step 9: Rising from Ruku
Stand up straight and say:

سمع الله لمن حمده | Sami’Allahu liman hamidah |
ربنا ولك الحمد | Rabbana wa lakal hamd |
Step 10: Sujud (Prostration)
Prostrate while saying Allah Akbar“الله أكبر”, then say:

سبحان ربي الأعلى (x3) | Subhana Rabbiyal A’la |
Step 11: Sitting between Two Sujuds
Sit up from prostration while saying “الله أكبر”, then say:

رب اغفر لي وارحمني واهدني وارزقني | Rabbighfirli warhamni wahdini warzuqni |
Step 12: Second Sujud
Prostrate again the second Time and repeat the words of Sujud.
Step 13: Rising for the Next Raka’ah
Sit down and repeat the same action in the next Raka’ahs. No Tashahhud during the last Raka, sit after the second prostration.
Step 14: Tashahhud and Salutations
While sitting, recite the Tashahhud:

التحيات لله والصلوات والطيبات | At-tahiyyatu lillahi was-salawatu wat-tayyibat |
السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاته | Assalamu ‘alaika ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu |
السلام علينا وعلى عباد الله الصالحين | Assalamu ‘alayna wa ‘ala ‘ibadillahis-salihin |
أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمدًا عبده ورسوله | Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa Rasuluh |

Then recite the Salawat (Darood Sharif)

اللهم صل على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد | Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala ali Muhammad kama sallayta ‘ala Ibrahim wa ‘ala ali Ibrahim innaka Hamidun Majid |
اللهم بارك على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد | Allahumma barik ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala ali Muhammad kama barakta ‘ala Ibrahim wa ‘ala ali Ibrahim innaka Hamidun Majid |
Step 15: Ending the Prayer
Turn your head to the right and say:

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله | Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah |
Then turn your head to the left and repeat the same.
