Quran verses about Dyed Hair Men

There are no specific Quranic verses that address the issue of dyed hair for men. However, the Quran does provide guidance on modesty and encourages Muslims to avoid excessive adornment and extravagance in their appearance. Muslims are encouraged to focus on internal piety and spiritual growth rather than external appearances.

In Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13), the Quran states, “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.

Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.”

This verse emphasises the importance of piety and righteousness as the criteria for nobility, rather than external factors such as appearance or social status.

Therefore, while the Quran does not explicitly prohibit men from dyeing their hair, Muslims are encouraged to focus on inner beauty and to avoid excessive preoccupation with outward appearances.

Pure Black Dye

Dyed Hair Men The preceding explanation becomes regarding using dye apart from the coloration of pure black. The ruling on using pure black hair dye will defer consistent with the purpose one uses it for.

a) If a warrior (mujahid) used black hair dye if you want to create awe and fear in the heart and mind of the enemy, then all the pupils agree that it’s miles permissible (al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya, five/329).

b) To use natural black dye if you want to mislead someone, e., G. A potential fiance or as a way to get a process, then this (in step with all) is impermissible.

The Companion Ibn Mas’ud (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah said:

“Whosoever deceives us isn’t from us” (Sahih Ibn Hibban)

c) The third scenario is when the natural black dye is used for decoration, which means the husbands or the better halves use it to please their partner. The scholars have differed close to its ruling.

Many Hanafi students have said that using pure black dye is not permissible, even for decoration and pleasing the partner.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & deliver him peace) said:

“There could be folks that will come later (in my Ummah) and observe black dye. They will not even scent the perfume of paradise” (Sunan Abu Dawud, 2/578).

In some other Hadith, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & deliver him peace) said: “Abstain from the usage of black dye” (Sahih Muslim).

However, other students, including the brilliant Hanafi jurist and pupil of Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Abu Yusuf (Allah have mercy on him), authorized the use of black dye for adornment, particularly the wife, to beautify herself for her husband.

It has also been narrated from several companions, including Sayyiduna Uthman, Sayyiduna Hasan, Sayyiduna Husain & others (Allah be pleased with all of them), that they used black coloration dye.

Imam Abu Yusuf also approved it for men, which allows them to beautify themselves for their better halves. His phrases are:

“As I choose my spouse to adorn herself for me, she also desires that I embellish myself for her” (Radd al-Muhtar).

Imam al-Haskafi states in Durr al-Mukhtar:

“It is suggested for men to dye their hair and beard, even outdoor struggle in keeping with the sounder opinion. The sounder opinion is that the Prophet (advantages and peace be upon him) did now not do it. It is disliked with black, even though a few said it isn’t.”

My respected teacher, Shaykh Mufti Taqi Usmani (Allah maintains him), says:

“The final word regarding the usage of black dye is that it’ll no longer be taken into consideration unlawful (haram), even though disliked (makruh). The prohibition inside the Hadith will be considered restrained in the state of affairs while one uses it to lie to others”. (Taqrir Tirmizi, 2/354).

It must also be remembered that the above discussion is while the dye is pure black. However, if it isn’t always natural, instead it is dark and black-inclined, it would be permissible to apply it.

Also, the death of hair will no longer affect the validity of ablutions (wudu) or obligatory tub (ghusl) because the coating is not considered a visual barrier.

In conclusion, it’s far endorsed to dye the hair (for women and men) differently than pure black shade. Using pure black dye to mislead others is unlawful (haram) and permissible for a Mujahid engaged in Jihad.

As far as using it for adornment functions, it will likely be genuinely disliked (makruh tanzihan), although a few have declared it to be reprehensible.
