The superiority of Arabs is divided into two sections. First, Arab preeminence that can be described as an extended argument in support of Arab advantage, Ibn Qutaybah accuses his opponents of being blasphemous in their jealousy. In the secondbook, The Excellence of Arab Learning In it, he outlines the various fields of knowledge where the Arabians of pre-Islamic times excelled with regard to divination, the stars horses, horsemanship and poetry. Incorporating extensive extracts from the poetry heritage–“the archives that was the archive of Arabs”–Ibn Qutaybah attempts to prove that poetry itself is sufficient proof for Arab superiority.
