Jannah is the name given to the promised paradise or garden of Islam. It’s the same idea that we have of Heaven is in English. There are many verses within the Quran which paint an image of what Jannah might be as, but the truth is that Jannah is a fantasy and cannot be described in words.

Quran Verse About Jannah:

“Gardens of permanent residence The gardeners will go in with those who were good between their fathers, spouses, and their children. The angels will appear into them through every gate saying”Peace be upon us for all that you endured. Excellent is the ultimate place of home.'” Surah Ar Ra’d Ayat 23-24

Innal lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati kaanat lahum Jannaatul Firdawsi nuzulaa
In fact, those who have committed to doing righteous actions They will be granted their own Gardens of Paradise as a accommodation,
Surah Kahf Ayat 107

MEANING OF JANNAH AL FIRDOUS

The literal significance of Jannah is garden and Firdaus is the word for paradise. However, to go further In Islam we believe that there are multiple levels of Heaven. Jannatul Firdaus is believed to be the highest heaven level and is the place you will find the Prophet Muhammad (saws).

Hadith On Different Layers of Heaven:

The people exclaimed, “O Allah’s Messenger () ! Should we inform them with the positive news?”

He also said “Paradise is a hundred-grade paradise that Allah is granting to Mujahidin who fight for His cause, and the distance between two grades is the distance between Heaven and Earth. When you are asking Allah (for anything) Ask for Al-firdaus. It is the highest and most desirable portion that is Paradise.” (i.e. The sub-narrator also said “I believe that the Prophet also stated that “Above it (i.e. Al-Firdaus) is the Throne of Beneficent (i.e. Allah) and it is from this that originate those rivers that flow into Paradise.”) Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 2790. HOW TO ENTER JANNATUL FIRDAUS:

There are numerous verses and hadith on the character and qualities of the person who will be permitted to be admitted into Jannah:

The Righteous Will Enter Jannah

and whoever is righteous in their actions either male or female and is a believer is guaranteed to enter Paradise and will never be wronged, even in the same way asthe tiny speck of the seed of a date. (Surah Nisa verse 124)

Do Not Associate Partners, Give Charity, Keep Good Relations

The story of Abu Aiyub: A man asked his Prophet () “Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter Paradise.” The people responded, “What is the matter with him? What’s wrong concerning the man?” The Prophet () stated, “He has something to inquire about. 

(What is it that he really needs?) He () declared: (In order to enter Paradise) it is necessary to be a worshiper of Allah and not ascribe any other partners to Him. make a perfect prayer and make the Zakat and maintain good relations between your Kith and family members.” (Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 1396. Volume 2 Book 23 Funerals (Al-Janaa’iz), Hadith 479)

Narrated by Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah () declared: “Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.” (Reference : Jami At-Tirmidhi 2646. In-book reference: Book 41, Hadith 2 English translation Vol. 5, Book 39, Hadith 2646)

How to Enter Jannah

We all wish to get into Jannah but do we truly strive to achieve it? There are many methods to enjoy the blessings that comes from Allah SWT and to enter His Jannah. Allah SWT made it simple for us to get into the gates of His Jannah as well. Here’s a few ways to get this privilege.

  1. Whoever is able to meet Allah without believing in Him is destined to enter Jannah. [Bukhari]
  2. If someone dies and is free of three things anger, resentment, and debt, will be admitted to Jannah. [Tirmidhi]
  3. Anyone who seeks Allah in the name of Jannah 3 times Jannah shall say “O Allah, enter him into Jannah.” (Tirmidhi”Tirmidhi”
  4. Anyone who speaks “SubhanAllah al-Adthim wa Bihamdihi, Glorified and Exalted is Allah, The Great, and with His Praise”. Date palms will be planted in his honor for his name in Jannah. [Tirmidhi]
  5. Anyone who visits an ill person or a relative of his to seek the blessings of Allah An announcer (angel) will call out: “May you be happy, may your walking be blessed, and may you be awarded a dignified position in Jannah”. [Tirmidhi]
