Can a Muslim man marry a Christian woman?

If a non-Muslim woman is Christian or Jewish, a Muslim man may marry her; but, he is not permitted to marry a non-Muslim woman who follows any other religion.

Evidence for the permissibility of marrying:

The evidence for that is the verse in which Allah says:

“At-Tayyibat [all types of Halal (lawful) foods, which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered edible animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, and fruits) are made lawful to you today.” The People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) are permitted to eat your food, and you are permitted to eat theirs (slaughtered cattle, edible animals). (Lawful to you in marriage) are chaste women from believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time, when you have given them their proper Mahr (bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage), desiring chastity (i.e., taking them in legal wedlock), refraining from engaging in illicit sexual activity, and not taking them as girlfriends.

The evidence for that is the verse in which Allah says:

“And never marry them to Al-Mushrikun,until your daughters shall believe in Allah Alone. A believing slave would still be better than a free Mushrik, even in case it pleases you. While them (Al-Mushrikun) invite you to the Fire, Allah grants you forgiveness and Paradise through His Leave. For humanity to remember, He also makes His Ayat—proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.—clear. [Al-Baqarah 2:221]
