Dua For Taraweeh: Arabic Transliteration & Translation

Muslims only offer the specific optional prayer known as Dua For Taraweeh on Ramadan nights, following the “Isha” (night) prayer. The Arabic root “raaha,” which means “to rest,” is the source of the word “Taraweeh,” which refers to the intervals between each set of Rak’ahs (prayer units).

Subḥāna Dhil-Mulki wal-Malakūt, Subḥāna Dhil-‘Izzati wal-‘Aẓamati wal-Haybati wal-Qudrati wal-Kibriyā’i wal-Jabarūt, Subḥān al-Maliki al-Ḥayyi alladhī lā yanāmu wa lā yamūtu, Subbūḥun Quddūs, Rabbunā wa Rabbul-Malā’ikati war-Rūḥ, Allāhumma ajirnā minan-nār, Yā Mujīr, Yā Mujīr, Yā Mujīr

English Translation of Dua For Taraweeh:

GLORY TO THE POSSESSOR OF SOVEREIGNTY AND DOMINION. GLORY TO THE POSSESSOR OF MAJESTY, DOMINANCE, MIGHT, MAGNIFICENCE, REVERENCE, AND POWER. Glory to the everlasting monarch who never sleeps or dies. OUR LORD AND THE LORD OF ANGELS AND JIBRIL, HE IS THE MOST PURE AND HOLY. SAVE US FROM THE FIRE, O Allah. SAVIOR, SAVIOR, SAVIOR!

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ، وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنَ السُّعَدَاءِ، وَأَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ، بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا عَزِيزُ يَا غَفَّارُ

Transliteration:

Allāhummaj-‘alnā minal-Muttaqīn, waj-‘alnā minas-Su‘adā’, wa adkhilnal-Jannata ma‘al-Abrār, bi-Raḥmatika Yā ‘Azīzu Yā Ghaffār

English Translation:

O ALLAH, MAKE US AMONG THE RIGHTEOUS. MAKE US AMONG THE SUCCESSFUL. ADMIT US INTO PARADISE WITH THE PIOUS, BY YOUR MERCY, O ALMIGHTY, O MOST FORGIVING.
