How To Pray Taraweeh Step By Step Properly?

In this article we will learn about how to pray Taraweeh Step By Step Properly? In order to pray Taraweeh, you must first finish your Isha prayer, then make an intention for Taraweeh. You then pray in sets of two rak’at, just like in regular Salah, until you reach 8, 12, or 20 rak’at (or any other even number), pausing briefly for dua or rest in between sets until concluding with the Witr prayer. Recite the Qur’an, put sincerity first, and offer up private prayers for guidance and forgiveness.

What is Tarawih?

Tarawih, which means “rest” or “relaxation,” is a voluntary prayer that is said every night during Ramadan following Isha, the evening prayer. Mosques all around the world offer congregational Tarawih prayers for men and women every night throughout this auspicious month because it is a highly recommended Sunnah. Here we will learn how to pray Taraweeh Step By Step Properly?

Before You Start Tarawih Prayer

  1. Perform Isha: Complete the obligatory Isha prayer first.
  2. Cleanliness: Ensure you are in a state of ritual purity (wudu) and your prayer area is clean.
  3. Intention (Niyyah): Make the intention in your heart, e.g., “I intend to pray Tarawih for Allah.”

The Prayer (Rak’at)

  1. Start with Takbir: Say “Allahu Akbar” (God is the Greatest) and raise your hands.
  2. Recite: Begin with the opening supplication (Dua al-Istiftah), then Surah al-Fatiha, followed by another Surah or verses from the Qur’an.
  3. Ruku & Sujud: Perform the bowing (ruku) and prostrations (sujud) as in normal prayer.
  4. Finish the 2 Rak’at: Conclude the two rak’at with the taslim (saying “As-salamu alaykum”).
  5. Repeat: Stand up and repeat this two-rak’at cycle for as many as you wish (8, 12, 20 are common).
  6. Breaks: Take short breaks after every 4 rak’at (two sets) to rest, make dua, or recite Qur’an.

Finishing Up

  • Witr Prayer: After your Tarawih, finish the night with the Witr prayer (one or three rak’at).

It makes sense, though, that we occasionally struggle to come up with a dua. You can consult this list of lovely duas for Ramadan for the prayers that are frequently read following Tarawih and witr prayers

May we profit from this detailed instruction on how to offer the tarawih prayer. May Allah appreciate our modest actions, and may this Ramadan have greater significance. Ameen.
