Surah Yusuf Ayat 4 Explanation

In the book continues the narrative of Sayyidna Yusuf which begins thus: It happened) [ when Yusuf said to his father, My father, I have seen eleven stars and the Sun and the Moon; I have seen them all prostrating themselves to me.

Al-Qurtubi says that the mother of Sayyidna Yusufhad not yet died in this mortal world when this happened, but on her behalf, his father was married to her sister. A maternal aunt already has love and worries towards the children of her sister as a natural mother would have. And even when now, following the death of her sister, she arrived at the point of being the wife of the father, she would technically be called the moth -mother.

Tafsir

This verse is the beginning of the tale of Prophet Yusuf alaihis salam in the Quran. Having already Allah said that the Quran holds past tales which people had not yet known by detail, in this case Allah transfers one of these narratives.
