A lot of insults use ابن الـ “son of a…” The equivalent for a woman would be بنت الـ “daughter of a…”
ابن كلب (ج) ولاد كلب
A dog’s son. It’s a bit insulting however, it’s on the gentler part of the scale. Parents can even refer to their children as “ibn/bint kalb” when they’re angry with their children, so it’s not at all bad. It can be used in many ways:
- دى شركة بنت كلب
- This company is a bitch.
- مشوار ابن كلب
- a bitch of a commute
- طعمه ابن كلب
- It tastes horrible.
- يخرب بيتك.
May God destroy your house. Also, on the lighter side of the spectrum of insults. It can be accentuated by adding something similar to وبيت اللي خلّفوك “and the house of those who gave birth to you.”
- ابن الحمار
- Son of a donkey. You can just say يا حمار
- أبو قرع
- Someone bald from ringworm.
- جربوعة
- The jerboa. A woman can be called garbuu
- اطفح بسمّ الهاري.
It is possible to tell someone who is eating similar to “I wish you choking on it!” ” اطفح means “Eat,”
ياتك ضربة في قلبك.
Similar to “Drop dead.” Literally, something along the lines of “I wish your heart is hit.
عقله ضارب.
Like “The fuse went out” (i.e. he’s an idiot). The meaning is something like “His head was hit.”
- يلعن أبو أمك.
- Curse your grandfather.
- الله ينعل أبوك.
- May God curse your father.
- مخه جزمة.
- His mind is a shoe.
- هو عاوز الضرب بستين جزمة.
He is deserving of being struck by sixty sneakers.
يا جزمة يا ابن الجزمة
The shoe is the son of the shoe. Shoes are often associated with dirt, and they represent the presence of degredation and impurity, so this can be quite offensive.
- طيزك حمرا.
- Your ass is red (i.e. like a monkey’s).
- جاتك داهية. – جاتك نيلة.
Both are equivalent to “Go to hell.” اتنيل بنيلة means about the same. You can say روح في ستين (ألف) داهية – go to sixty hells. And ياتك داهية تخدك – I hope a disaster takes you.
