In Islam, what is considered to be Zakat al-Fitr is uniform, regardless of an individual’s income, the minimum requirement of one Sa’ (equivalent to four double handfuls) of food, grains or dried fruit per each member of the family or a similar amount in monetary value.

The amount currently in use to be used for Zakat Al Fitr, as established by the Zakat Affairs Department Department of Zakat Affairs, is QAR 15 for Ramadan 1444 AH.

To calculate this figure, experts from Zakat services, the Zakat services section, analyze the price of rice, the most popular food item in Qatar, and calculate the cost of rice to determine the actual worth in Zakat Al Fitr.

The required contribution is 2.5 kilograms of rice or its equivalent in money of 15 QAR.

Qatari government official Saad Omran Al-Kuwari has asked the public to pay their donations through an official agency of the government, the Zakat Affairs Department, through multiple payment options, including offices throughout the country and its website.

This will enable the department to distribute the Zakat to those in need in Qatar before Eid Al Fitr. Eid Al Fitr prayer.
