Before You Start Trawih prayer
- Purify: Make sure you are in a condition of wudu, or ritual purity.
- Intention (Niyyah): Pray Taraweeh for Allah with sincerity.
- Perform Isha: Pray the two rakats of Sunnah Isha after the required four rakats of Isha.
- Performing Taraweeh (Sets of 2 Rakats)
- Start: Say “Allahu Akbar” and raise your hands.
- Recite: Recite the opening prayer, Surah Al-Fatihah, and another brief surah while placing your right hand over your left.
- Ruku (Bow): Say “Allahu Akbar” and bow while maintaining your back straight and your hands on your knees.
- I’tidal (Stand): saying, “Sami Allahu liman hamidah”.
- Sujud (Prostrate): Say “Allahu Akbar” and prostrate reciting “Subhana Rabbiyal A’la” saying three times. (Subhana Rabbiyal A’la in Sajud)
- Sit: Say “Allahu Akbar,” sit, then return to Sujud.
- Stand: Say “Allahu Akbar” to rise for the second rakat.
- Second Rakat: Repeat these steps 2-6.
- Tashahhud: Remain seated and recite Tashahhud following the second Sujud of the second rakat.
- Taslim (End): Turn your head right, and saying “Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,” Repeat: For the following set of two rakats, stand up (or sit if you’re done) and repeat steps 1 through 10.
After Tarawih
- Take Breaks: Rest briefly after every 4 rakats for Dhikr or Du’a .
- Number of Rakats: You can choose to pray 8, 12, or 20 rakats, or any other even number.
- Witr Prayer: Add the Witr prayer (1 or 3 rakats), which is a different prayer.
