Every Muslim has stood at a shop door, phone in one hand and a list in the other, with no thought of Allah at all. The dua for shopping is a short remembrance that turns an ordinary errand into worship. Many of us skip it simply because nobody taught us.
Looking for a good book to build this habit? Many families keep Fortress of the Muslim (Hisn al-Muslim) at home for daily duas like this one.
Dua For Shopping Transliteration
Here is the dua in Arabic first.
Transliteration:
Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, yuḥyī wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyun lā yamūt, biyadihil-khayr, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in qadīr.
English Translation
“There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom and all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and never dies. In His hand is all good, and He has power over everything.”

Why Markets Need Remembrance
A market is a place where people meet, bargain and trade. Wikipedia describes a market as a space where buyers and sellers exchange goods, and that has been true since ancient times. Islam never rejected trade. It only asks us to stay mindful while we do it.
