Allahumma Rahmataka Arju: A Dua For Hope

Allahumma Rahmataka Arju is a potent Dua of the affliction that was quoted by our Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). The prayer acts as a reminder of the fact that we are dependent on the mercy, direction, and protection of Allah. It reflects the spirit of humility, desire to rectify and total faith in divine wisdom of Allah.

Arabic Dua “Allahumma Rahmataka Arju:

اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَا أَنْتَ.

““Allahumma Rahmataka Arju” – This section of the dua is a recognition of the thirst and need of the believer on the mercy of Allah which is endless. It is the expression of hope and wish of the forgiveness and mercy of Allah and blessings.

“Fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata ‘ayn” – The reciter knows himself weak as well. It also recognizes that just being dependent on one own abilities and choices even at a short period of time may result in errors, misjudgment, and even failure.

“Aslih li Sha’ni Kullah” –This section represents the acknowledgement by the believer that only Allah is capable of creating things right and he can do it because he is of an understanding.

“La ilaha illa Ant” – This supplication ends with the restatement of the oneness and the uniqueness of Allah. It is a statement of belief, and recognizes the fact that there should be no other god other than Allah who is the One and who has power and control.
