| 6 | فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَدْعُو الدَّاعِي إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُّكُرٍ | Fa-tawall ʿanhum yawm yadʿū ad-dāʿī ilā shayʾ nukr | So turn away from them on the day when the caller calls to something terrible |
| 7 | خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ | Khushaʿan abṣāruhum yakhrujūn min al-ajdāth kaʾannahum jarād muntashir | Their eyes humbled, they come out of the graves as if they were locusts dispersed |
| 8 | مُهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ | Muhtaʿīn ilā ad-dāʿ yaqūl al-kāfirūn hādhā yawm ʿasir | Running in fear to the caller. The disbelievers say, “This is a difficult day” |
| 9 | كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ | Kadhdhbat qablahum qawm nūḥ fa-kadhdhab ʿabdunā wa-qālū majnūn wa-ztdujar | Before them, Noah’s people denied. They rejected Our servant and said “Madman”, and he was repelled |
| 10 | فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانتَصِرْ | Fa-daʿā rabbahu annī maghbūb fa-ntasir | So he called upon his Lord: “I am overcome, so help me” |
| 11 | فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ | Fa-fataḥnā abwāb as-samāʾ bi-māʾ munhamirr | We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth |
| 12 | وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ | Wa-fajjarnā al-arḍ ʿuyūn fa-ltaqā al-māʾ ʿalā amr qad qudir | And the earth erupted with springs, so the water met for a matter already decreed |
| 13 | وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ | Wa-ḥamalnāhu ʿalā dhāt alwāḥ wa-dusr | And We carried him upon an ark of planks and nails |
| 14 | تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ | Tajrī bi-aʿyuninā jazāʾan liman kān kufir | It ran before Our eyes as a reward for him who was rejected |
| 15 | وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ | Wa-laqad taraknāhā āyah fa-hal min muddakir | And We left it as a sign. So is there any that will remember? |
| 16 | فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ | Fa-kayf kān ʿadhābī wa-nudhur | Then how terrible were My punishment and warnings |

| 19 | إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ | Innā arsalnā ʿalayhim rīḥ sarṣar fī yawm naḥs mustamirr | Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous calamity |
| 20 | تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ | Tanziʿ an-nās kaʾannahum aʿjāz nakhl munqaʿir | Plucking out people as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees |
| 21 | فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ | Fa-kayf kān ʿadhābī wa-nudhur | Then how terrible were My punishment and warnings |
| 22 | وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ | Wa-laqad yassarnā al-qurʾān li-dhdhikr fa-hal min muddakir | And We have made the Qur’an easy to remember. So is there any that will remember? |
| 23 | كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ | Kadhdhbat thamūd bi-an-nudhur | Thamud denied the warnings |
| 24 | فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ | Fa-qālū a-basharan minnā wāḥid nattabiʿuh innā idhā la-fī ḍalāl wa-suʿur | They said: “Shall we follow one man from among us? Then indeed we would be in error and madness” |
| 25 | أَؤُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِن بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ | Aʾulqiya adh-dhikr ʿalayhi min baynin balbalhuh kadhdhāb ashir | “Has the reminder been given to him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar” |
| 26 | سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّن الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ | Sayaʿlamūn ghad man al-kadhdhāb al-ashir | They will know tomorrow who is the liar, the insolent one |
| 27 | إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَارْقُبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ | Innā mursilū an-nāqah fitna lahum fa-rqubhum wa-sbtabir | Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as a trial for them. So watch them and be patient” |
| 28 | وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ | Wa-nabbīhum anna al-māʾ qismah baynahum kulluh shirb muḥtaḍar | And inform them that water is shared between them, each share drunk at a familiar time |
| 29 | فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَوَلَّىٰ فَعَقَرَ | Fa-nādaw sāḥibahum fa-tawall fa-ʿaqar | But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her |
| 30 | فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ | Fa-kayf kān ʿadhābī wa-nudhur | Then how terrible were My punishment and warnings |
| 31 | إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمِحْتَارِ | Innā arsalnā ʿalayhim ṣayḥah wāḥidah fa-kānū ka-hashīm al-miḥtār | Indeed, We sent upon them one blast, and they became like dry twigs used for fuel |
| 32 | وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ | Wa-laqad yassarnā al-qurʾān li-dhdhikr fa-hal min muddakir | And We have made the Qur’an easy to remember. So is there any that will remember? |
| 33 | كَذَّبَ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ | Kadhdhb qawm lūṭ bi-an-nudhur | The people of Lot denied the warnings |
| 34 | إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ نَّجَّيْنَاهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ | Innā arsalnā ʿalayhim ḥāṣib illā āl lūṭ najjaynāhum bi-saḥar | Indeed, We sent upon them a stone-filled wind, except for Lot’s family whom We saved at dawn |
| 35 | نِعْمَةً مِّن عِندِنَا ۖ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَن شَكَرَ | Niʿmah min ʿindnā kadhālika najzī man shakr | As a blessing from Us. Thus We reward those who are grateful |
| 36 | وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ | Wa-laqad andhrahum baṭshatanā fa-tamārw bi-an-nudhur | And he warned them of Our seizure, but they disputed about the warnings |
| 37 | وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ | Wa-laqad rāwadūhu ʿan ḍayfih fa-tamasn aʿyunahum fa-dhūq ʿadhābī wa-nudhur | And they certainly sought to seduce him away from his guests, so We blinded their eyes. Taste then My punishment and My warnings |
| 38 | وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بَكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ | Wa-laqad sabbāḥahum bakrah ʿadhāb mustaqirr | And there came to them at early morning an everlasting punishment |
| 39 | فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ | Fa-dhūq ʿadhābī wa-nudhur | So taste My punishment and My warnings |
| 40 | وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ | Wa-laqad yassarnā al-qurʾān li-dhdhikr fa-hal min muddakir | And We have made the Qur’an easy to remember. So is there any that will remember? |
| 41 | وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ | Wa-laqad jāʾ āl firʿawn an-nudhur | And indeed, warnings came to the people of Pharaoh |
| 42 | كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ | Kadhdhab bi-āyātinā kullihā fa-akhdhānāhum akhdh ʿazīz muqtadirr | They denied all Our signs, so We seized them with the seizure of the Almighty, the Powerful |
| 43 | أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّن أُولَٰئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ | Akuffārkum khayrun min ūlāʾikum am lakum barāʾah fi az-zubur | Are your disbelievers better than those, or have you immunity in the scriptures?” |
| 44 | أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ | Am yaqūlūn naḥn jamīʿ muntasir | Or do they say: “We are a great multitude to help”? |
| 45 | سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ | Sayuhzam al-jamʿ wa-yuwallun ad-dubar | The multitude will be defeated, and they will turn their backs |
| 46 | بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ | Bali as-sāʿah mawʿiduhum wa-as-sāʿah adhā wa-amarr | Rather, the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour is more dreadful and more bitter |
| 47 | إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ | Inna al-mujrimīn fī ḍalāl wa-suʿur | Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness |
| 48 | يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ | Yawm yusḥabūn fi an-nār ʿalā wujūhihim dhūq mass saqar | The day they will be dragged upon their faces into the Fire (it will be said), “Taste the touch of Saqar” |
| 49 | إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ | Innā kulla shayʾ khalaqnāhu bi-qadar | Indeed, all things We have created with measure |
| 50 | وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحِ بِالْبَصَرِ | Wa-mā amrunā illā wāḥidah kalamḥ bi-al-basar | And Our command is but one, like the twinkling of an eye |
| 51 | وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ | Wa-laqad ahlkna ashyāʿakum fa-hal min muddakir | And We have destroyed your kind before. So is there any that will remember? |
