Complete Guide To The Dua Allahummaghfirli Zambi

Having been a Muslim, it is unlikely that you have not heard of Allahummaghfirli Zambi. It is a phrase or a saying in Arabic which will translate to: I seek Allah forgiveness of all my sins and repent to Him.

Here’s the dua in Arabic Allahummaghfirli Zambi,

وَأَنِ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يُمَتِّعْكُم مَّتَٰعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِى فَضْلٍ فَضْلَهُ

“And ask your Lord (the Mighty, the Majestic) forgiveance, and then ask him to pardon, He will provide you with good provisions, until a specified time, and bring rebellious-giver-of-bounty his bounty to you.

This is the reason why it was suitable that the asking of forgiveness comes first before seeking Allah to grant a generous house and an increase of good in the provisions.

The saying of the Prophet ( PBUH):…and make spacious to me my place of abode… is to be understood as: make spacious to me my place of abode in the worldly life, because its spaciousness is a part of happiness of the worldly life or success in the worldly life.

Or it could be the meaning al-Qabr (the grave), as it is ad-Dar al-Haqeequeeyah (the real home). Or the meaning that was intended is al-Jannah (Paradise) because it is the abode of permanence and the eternal bliss that will never turn or disappear.

Actually, there is no reason as to why this expression (i.e. home) should not be inclusive of all these meanings. The statement of the Prophet: ( PBUH) and bless what you have given me (i.e. increase the good in it).

One of the things that makes people happy is having a large home.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:

“Four things are part of happiness:
1) a righteous wife,
2) a spacious abode,
3) a good neighbor,
4) and a comfortable mount.

And four things are part of misery:
1) a bad neighbor,
2) a bad wife,
3) a small abode,
4) and a bad mount.”
