Powerful Dua To Prayer For Forgiveness of Lust

Prayer For forgiveness of lust: lust, according to Islam, is an action of being heedless. By so doing Muslims lose God and their responsibilities as they give in to such desires. It is true that the Quran cautions against such a careless attitude: Be patient when others worship their Lord in the evenings and mornings to take His pleasure. Neglect them not to search the delights of this world. Then do not follow those whom We made to forget Us and follow only their own lusts to the utmost extent (Quran 18:28).

The Quran invites the Muslims to pray and ask God for forgiveness in sexual moments of lust. Prayer reminds a Muslim that he is in the right place in front of God and not the desires. Moreover, forgiveness brings relief alongside the conscience that usually comes after such opposite desires.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to say, “O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, dignified restraint, and freedom from need. (Allahumma inni as’aluka’l huda wa’t tuqa wa’l `afafa wa’l ghina)” [Sahih Muslim]

The Importance of Repentance

Islam is hopeful to anyone who has sinned despite the degree of the sin. Allah in His infinite mercy gives an assurance to forgive all sins provided one repents his/her sins. In the Qur’an, Allah says:

Say: O my servants, on your hand have you hurt yourselves; despair ye not of mercy of Allah. Allah forgives all sins. He is indeed the Most Pardoning, Most Merciful..’” (Az-Zumar 39:53)

This verse serves as a reminder of the fact that however heinous the sin may be, Allah is never too far away to forgive those who come to him with sincerity and regrets. Nevertheless, the real repentance presupposes profound thinking, a willingness to change, and definite determination to avoid committing the crime again.
