2قُمِ اللَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًارات کو (نماز کے لیے) کھڑے ہو جاؤ، مگر تھوڑی رات کے سوا
3نِّصْفَهُ أَوِ انقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًاآدھی رات، یا اس سے کچھ کم کر لو
4أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًایا اس سے کچھ زیادہ کر لو، اور قرآن کو ٹھہر ٹھہر کر پڑھو
5إِنَّا سَنُلْقِي عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًا ثَقِيلًابے شک ہم عنقریب تم پر ایک بھاری بات ڈالنے والے ہیں
6إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ اللَّيْلِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطْئًا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًابے شک رات کا اٹھنا نفس کو دبانے میں زیادہ مؤثر ہے اور بات (کو سمجھنے) میں زیادہ درست ہے
7إِنَّ لَكَ فِي النَّهَارِ سَبْحًا طَوِيلًابے شک دن میں تمہارے لیے (کاموں میں) لمبی مصروفیت ہے
8وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًااور اپنے رب کا نام یاد کرو اور پوری طرح اسی کی طرف متوجہ ہو جاؤ
9رَّبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَاتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًاوہ مشرق و مغرب کا رب ہے، اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، پس اسی کو اپنا کارساز بنا لو
10وَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَاهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًااور جو کچھ وہ کہتے ہیں اس پر صبر کرو اور خوبصورت انداز میں ان سے کنارہ کشی اختیار کرو
11وَذَرْنِي وَالْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُولِي النَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًااور جھٹلانے والے خوشحال لوگوں کو مجھ پر چھوڑ دو، اور انہیں تھوڑی مہلت دو
12إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنكَالًا وَجَحِيمًابے شک ہمارے پاس (سخت) بیڑیاں اور بھڑکتی آگ ہے
13وَطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّةٍ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًااور گلے میں اٹکنے والا کھانا، اور دردناک عذاب ہے
14يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ الْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًاجس دن زمین اور پہاڑ کانپ اٹھیں گے، اور پہاڑ بکھری ہوئی ریت کی طرح ہو جائیں گے
15إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَاهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًابے شک ہم نے تمہاری طرف ایک رسول بھیجا ہے جو تم پر گواہ ہے، جیسے ہم نے فرعون کی طرف رسول بھیجا تھا
16فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ الرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًاتو فرعون نے اس رسول کی نافرمانی کی، پس ہم نے اسے سخت گرفت میں لے لیا
17فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًا يَجْعَلُ الْوِلْدَانَ شِيبًاپھر اگر تم کفر کرو تو اس دن سے کیسے بچو گے جو بچوں کو بوڑھا کر دے گا
18السَّمَاءُ مُنفَطِرٌ بِهِ كَانَ وَعْدُهُ مَفْعُولًاآسمان اس دن پھٹ جائے گا، اس کا وعدہ ضرور پورا ہونے والا ہے
19إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ فَمَن شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًابے شک یہ ایک نصیحت ہے، پس جو چاہے اپنے رب کی طرف راستہ اختیار کر لے

Surah Al-Muzzammil — Verse by Verse English Translation

  1. Verse 1: O you wrapped in garments [O Muhammad]!
  2. Verse 2: Stand [in prayer] the night, except for a little —
  3. Verse 3: Half of it, or subtract a little from it,
  4. Verse 4: Or add to it, and recite the Quran with measured, well-paced recitation.
  5. Verse 5: Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.
  6. Verse 6: Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for [gaining] control [over one’s heart and speech] and more suitable for words [of prayer and recitation].
  7. Verse 7: Indeed, during the day you have prolonged occupation [with worldly affairs].
  8. Verse 8: And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete and exclusive] devotion.
  9. Verse 9: [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of your affairs.
  10. Verse 10: And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.
  11. Verse 11: And leave Me to deal with the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.
  12. Verse 12: Indeed, with Us are shackles [for the Hereafter] and burning fire.
  13. Verse 13: And food that chokes and a painful punishment —
  14. Verse 14: On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of poured-out sand.
  15. Verse 15: Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you, just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.
  16. Verse 16: But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.
  17. Verse 17: Then how can you protect yourselves, if you disbelieve, from a Day that will turn children gray-haired?
  18. Verse 18: The heaven will break apart therefrom; His promise is ever fulfilled.
  19. Verse 19: Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.
  20. Verse 20: Indeed, your Lord knows that you stand [in prayer] almost two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or a third of it, as does a group of those with you. And Allah determines the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Quran. He knows that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking of the bounty of Allah, and others fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves — you will find it with Allah, better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
