Surah An Naba transliteration and Benefits

Surah An-Naba (Arabic text: النبأ) is the 78th chapter of the Qur’an. The surah titled in English means “The Tidings” and it consists of 40 verses.

About this Surah:

The main theme or subject of Surah Naba is about the day of “great tidings” referring to the day of Resurrection. This Surah can be divided into three main sections

Verses 1-5: Which mentions how before that day there will be a group who disbelieve that deny that the day of reckoning does not exist.

Verses 6-16: Here the Qur’an presents all the miracles and wonders of this world and appeals to reason. Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) is the only one capable of creating such complex systems like the clouds that pour water onto the vegetation stimulating growth. He created the night and sleep so that we may rest, the mountains as stakes, and the day for livelihood. How can we accept all this but not the day of resurrection? Ayah No.	Arabic Text	Transliteration
1	عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ	‘Amma yatasa’alūn
2	عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ	‘Ani an-naba’il-‘aẓīm
3	ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ	Alladhī hum fīhi mukhtalifūn
4	كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ	Kallā saya‘lamūn
5	ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ	Thumma kallā saya‘lamūn
6	أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَٰدًۭا	Alam naj‘ali al-arḍa mihādā
7	وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًۭا	Wal-jibāla awtādā
8	وَخَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا	Wa khalaqnākum azwājā
9	وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًۭا	Wa ja‘alnā nawmakum subātā
10	وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا	Wa ja‘alnā al-layla libāsā
11	وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًۭا	Wa ja‘alnā an-nahāra ma‘āshā
12	وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا	Wa banaynā fawqakum sab‘an shidādā
13	وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًۭا وَهَّاجًۭا	Wa ja‘alnā sirājā wahhājā
14	وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءًۭ ثَجَّاجًۭا	Wa anzalnā mina al-mu‘ṣirāti mā’an thajjājā
15	لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّۭا وَنَبَاتًۭا	Linukhrija bihi ḥabbā wa nabātā
16	وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلْفَافًۭا	Wa jannātin alfāfā
17	إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتًۭا	Inna yawma al-faṣli kāna mīqātā
18	يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًۭا	Yawma yunfakhu fī aṣ-ṣūri fata’tūna afwājā
19	وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًۭا	Wa futiḥati as-samā’u fakānat abwābā
20	وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًۭا	Wa suyyirati al-jibālu fakānat sarābā
21	إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًۭا	Inna jahannama kānat mirṣādā
22	لِّلطَّاغِينَ مَـَٔابًۭا	Lil-ṭāghīna ma’ābā
23	لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًۭا	Lābithīna fīhā aḥqābā
24	لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًۭا وَلَا شَرَابًۭا	Lā yadhūqūna fīhā bardā wa lā sharābā
25	إِلَّا حَمِيمًۭا وَغَسَّاقًۭا	Illā ḥamīmā wa gassāqā
26	جَزَآءًۭ وِفَاقًۭا	Jazā’an wifāqā
27	إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًۭا	Innahum kānū lā yarjūna ḥisābā
28	وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابًۭا	Wa kadh-dhabū bi-āyātinā kidh-dhābā
29	وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ كِتَٰبًۭا	Wa kulla shay’in aḥṣaynāhu kitābā
30	فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًۭا	Fadhūqū falan nazīdakum illā ‘adhābā
31	إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًۭا	Inna lil-muttaqīna mafāzā
32	حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَٰبًۭا	Ḥadā’iqa wa a‘nābā
33	وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًۭا	Wa kawā‘iba atrābā
34	وَكَأْسًۭا دِهَاقًۭا	Wa ka’san dihāqā
35	لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًۭا	Lā yasma‘ūna fīhā laghwā wa lā kidh-dhābā
36	جَزَآءًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًۭا	Jazā’an min rabbika ‘aṭā’an ḥisābā
37	رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًۭا	Rabbi as-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa mā baynahumā ar-Raḥmān lā yamlikūna minhu khiṭābā
38	يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّۭا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًۭا	Yawma yaqūmu ar-rūḥu wal-malā’ikatu ṣaffā lā yatakallamūna illā man adhina lahu ar-Raḥmān wa qāla ṣawābā
39	ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًۭا	Dhālika al-yawmu al-ḥaqqu fa man shā’a ittakhadha ilā rabbihi ma’ābā

Verses 17-40: The concluding verses give us insight as to what will happen on that day and how we will all return to Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ).
