Dua 1

English (Translation & Transliteration)

Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Transliteration:
Allahumma innī as’aluka ‘ilman nāfi‘an, wa rizqan ṭayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalā.

“O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that will be accepted.”

Dua 2

Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Transliteration:
Allahumma innī a‘ūdhu bika minal-hammi wal-ḥazani, wal-‘ajzi wal-kasli, wal-bukhli wal-jubni, wa ḍala‘id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijāl.

Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ  

Allahumma aḥsin ‘āqibatanā fil-umūri kullihā, wa ajirnā min khizyid-dunyā wa ‘adhābil-‘ākhirah.

Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ أَحْسِنْ عَاقِبَتَنَا فِي الْأُمُورِ كُلِّهَا، وَأَجِرْنَا مِنْ خِزْيِ الدُّنْيَا وَعَذَابِ الْآخِرَةِ

Dua 4

English (Translation & Transliteration)

اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ لِي دِينِي الَّذِي هُوَ عِصْمَةُ أَمْرِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي دُنْيَايَ الَّتِي فِيهَا مَعَاشِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي آخِرَتِي الَّتِي فِيهَا مَعَادِي، وَاجْعَلِ الْحَيَاةَ زِيَادَةً لِي فِي كُلِّ خَيْرٍ، وَاجْعَلِ الْمَوْتَ رَاحَةً لِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَرٍ  

Allahumma aṣliḥ lī dīnī allaḏī huwa ‘iṣmatu amrī, wa aṣliḥ lī dunyāya allatī fīhā ma’āshī, wa aṣliḥ lī ākhiratī allatī fīhā ma’ādī, waj’alil-ḥayāta ziyādatal lī fī kulli khayr, waj’alil-mawta rāḥatal lī min kulli sharr.

Dua 5

Allahumma innī a’ūdhu bika min ‘ilmin lā yanfa’, wa min qalbin lā yakhsha’, wa min nafsin lā tashba’, wa min da’watin lā yustajābu lahā.   

Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لَا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا

Allahumma innī a‘ūdhu bika min ‘ilmin lā yanfa‘, wa min qalbin lā yakhsha‘, wa min nafsin lā tashba‘, wa min da‘watin lā yustajābu lahā.

Dua 6

English (Translation & Transliteration)

” O Allah, I ask You for Paradise, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire.”

Allahumma innī as’aluka al-jannata wa a’ūdhu bika minan-nār.

Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

Dua 7

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa’u, wa min qalbin la yakhsha’u, wa min nafsin la tashba’u, wa min da’watin la yustajabu laha.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لا يَنْفَعُ وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لا يَخْشَعُ وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لا تَشْبَعُ وَمِنْ دَعْوَةٍ لا يُسْتَجَابُ لَهَا  

How to make dua for Prophet Muhammad

Love and respect towards Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is also a part of Islamic religion because it portrays how much we value the teachings that he has given to the people of the world. Here is the way that you can make duʻa on his behalf:

General Duʻa: You can recite Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammadin, sending blessings upon the prophet. The most common form is:

“Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa ala ali Muhammadin kama sallayta ala Ibrahima wa ala ali Ibrahima innaka hamidun majid. Allahumma barik ala Muhammadin wa ala ali Muhammadin kama barakta ala Ibrahima wa ala ali Ibrahima innaka hamidun majid.”

Famous Duas of Other Prophets in Islam

The Quran and Hadith different supplications by other Prophets and they all portray circumstances in which they lived and their steadfast faith in Allah. Here are a few examples:

Dua 1 – Prophet Yunus (Jonah)

  • Context: Prophet Yunus (AS) supplicated Allah when he was stuck in the belly of a whale, and he repented.
  • Duʻā: “You have no god besides You; glorious You are. Yes, I have been wrong of the wrongdoers.” (Quran 21:87)

Dua 2 – Prophet Musa (Moses)

  • Context:  Prophet Musa (AS) sought the help and protection of Allah when he was faced by Pharaoh and his army.

Dua 3 – Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham)

  • Context: Prophet Ibrahim (AS) created a sacred sanctuary and offered duʻā for the welfare of his descendants while constructing the Kaaba.
  • Dua: “Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should receive rewards from this safe city, my Lord. (Quran 2:126)
