Kitābun anzalnāhu ilayka litukhrijan-nāsa minaẓ-ẓulumāti ilan-nūri bi-idhni rabbihim ilā ṣirāṭil-‘azīzil-ḥamīd Alif, Lam, Ra. This is a Book We have sent down to you so that you may bring people out of the darkness into the light, by the permission of their Lord, to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكَافِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ ﴿٢﴾ Allāhil-ladhī lahū mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ, wa waylul lil-kāfirīna min ‘adhābin shadīd Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And woe to the disbelievers from a severe punishment. الَّذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا عَلَى الْآخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ ﴿٣﴾ Alladhīna yastaḥibbūnal-ḥayātad-dunyā ‘alal-ākhirati wa yaṣuddūna ‘an sabīlillāhi wa yabghūnahā ‘iwajā, ulā’ika fī ḍalālim ba’īd Those who prefer the life of this world over the Hereafter, hinder others from the path of Allah, and seek to make it crooked. Those are in far-gone error. وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ ۖ فَيُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَن يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ﴿٤﴾ Wa mā arsalnā mir rasūlin illā bilisāni qawmihī liyubayyina lahum, fayuḍillullāhu may yashā’u wa yahdī may yashā’, wa huwal-‘azīzul-ḥakīm We never sent a messenger except in the language of his people, to make things clear to them. Then Allah lets go astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. He is the Almighty, the Wise. وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا أَنْ أَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ وَذَكِّرْهُم بِأَيَّامِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ ﴿٥﴾ Wa laqad arsalnā Mūsā bi-āyātinā an akhrij qawmaka minaẓ-ẓulumāti ilan-nūri wa dhakkirhum bi-ayyāmillāh, inna fī dhālika la-āyātil likulli ṣabbārin shakūr We sent Moses with Our signs: “Bring your people out of the darkness into the light, and remind them of the days of Allah.” In that are signs for everyone who is steadfast and grateful. وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ أَنجَاكُم مِّنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكُم بَلَاءٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ ﴿٦﴾ Wa idh qāla Mūsā liqawmihidh-kurū ni’matallāhi ‘alaykum idh anjākum min āli Fir’awna yasūmūnakum sū’al-‘adhābi wa yudhabbiḥūna abnā’akum wa yastaḥyūna nisā’akum, wa fī dhālikum balā’um mir rabbikum ‘aẓīm When Moses said to his people: “Remember Allah’s favor upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who inflicted terrible torment on you, slaughtered your sons, and spared your women. I reject your associating me with Allah before. Indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.” وَأُدْخِلَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ تَحِيَّتُهُمْ فِيهَا سَلَامٌ ﴿٢٣﴾ Wa udkhilal-ladhīna āmanū wa ‘amiluṣ-ṣāliḥāti jannātin tajrī min taḥtihal-anhāru khālidīna fīhā bi-idhni rabbihim, taḥiyyatuhum fīhā salām Those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted into gardens with rivers flowing beneath them, remaining there forever by their Lord’s permission. So make the hearts of some people incline toward them and provide them with fruits, so that they may be grateful. رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِي وَمَا نُعْلِنُ ۗ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ ﴿٣٨﴾ Rabbanā innaka ta’lamu mā nukhfī wa mā nu’lin, wa mā yakhfā ‘alallāhi min shay’in fil-arḍi wa lā fis-samā’ Our Lord, You know what we conceal and what we reveal. Nothing on earth or in the heavens is hidden from Allah. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَهَبَ لِي عَلَى الْكِبَرِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي لَسَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ ﴿٣٩﴾ Alḥamdu lillāhil-ladhī wahaba lī ‘alal-kibari Ismā’īla wa Isḥāq, inna rabbī lasamī’ud-du’ā’ Praise be to Allah who gave me, in old age, Ishmael and Isaac. My Lord is the Hearer of prayer. رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ ﴿٤٠﴾ Rabbij-‘alnī muqīmaṣ-ṣalāti wa min dhurriyyatī, rabbanā wa taqabbal du’ā’ My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my descendants too. Our Lord, accept my prayer. رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ ﴿٤١﴾ Rabbanagh-fir lī wa liwālidayya wa lilmu’minīna yawma yaqūmul-ḥisāb Our Lord, forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day the reckoning is established.” وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ الظَّالِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ الْأَبْصَارُ ﴿٤٢﴾ Wa lā taḥsabannallāha ghāfilan ‘ammā ya’malużẓ-ẓālimūn, innamā yu’akhkhiruhum liyawmin tashkhaṣu fīhil-abṣār Do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them until a Day when eyes will stare in horror, مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِي رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ ۖ وَأَفْئِدَتُهُمْ هَوَاءٌ ﴿٤٣﴾ Muhṭi’īna muqni’ī ru’ūsihim lā yartaddu ilayhim ṭarfuhum, wa af’idatuhum hawā’ rushing ahead with heads raised, their gaze not returning to them, and their hearts empty. وَأَنذِرِ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ الْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا رَبَّنَا أَخِّرْنَا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ ۗ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوا أَقْسَمْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالٍ ﴿٤٤﴾ Wa andhirin-nāsa yawma ya’tīhimul-‘adhābu fayaqūlul-ladhīna ẓalamū rabbanā akhkhirnā ilā ajalin qarībin nujib da’wataka wa nattabi’ir-rusul, awalam takūnū aqsamtum min qablu mā lakum min zawāl Warn people of the Day the punishment comes to them, when the wrongdoers will say: “Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers.” Did you not swear before that you would never decline? وَسَكَنتُمْ فِي مَسَاكِنِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ الْأَمْثَالَ ﴿٤٥﴾ Wa sakantum fī masākinil-ladhīna ẓalamū anfusahum wa tabayyana lakum kayfa fa’alnā bihim wa ḍarabnā lakumul-amthāl You lived in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We dealt with them, and We gave you examples. وَقَدْ مَكَرُوا مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِندَ اللَّهِ مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ ﴿٤٦﴾ Wa qad makarū makrahum wa ‘indallāhi makruhum wa in kāna makruhum litazūla minhul-jibāl They plotted their plot, but their plot is known to Allah, even if their plot could move mountains. فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ مُخْلِفَ وَعْدِهِ رُسُلَهُ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ ذُو انتِقَامٍ ﴿٤٧﴾ Falā taḥsabannallāha mukhlifa wa’dihī rusulah, innallāha ‘azīzun dhuntiqām Do not think Allah will break His promise to His messengers. Indeed Allah is Almighty, Owner of retribution. يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ ۖ وَبَرَزُوا لِلَّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ ﴿٤٨﴾ Yawma tubaddalul-arḍu ghayral-arḍi was-samāwāt, wa barazū lillāhil-wāḥidil-qahhār On the Day the earth is replaced by another earth, and the heavens too, and all appear before Allah, the One, the Prevailing. وَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّقَرَّنِينَ فِي الْأَصْفَادِ ﴿٤٩﴾ Wa taral-mujrimīna yawma’idhim muqarranīna fil-aṣfād On that Day you will see the criminals bound together in chains. سَرَابِيلُهُم مِّن قَطِرَانٍ وَتَغْشَىٰ وُجُوهَهُمُ النَّارُ ﴿٥٠﴾ Sarābīluhum min qaṭirāniw wa taghshā wujūhahumun-nār Their garments will be of tar, and fire will cover their faces, لِيَجْزِيَ اللَّهُ كُلَّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ ﴿٥١﴾ Liyajziyallāhu kulla nafsim mā kasabat, innallāha sarī’ul-ḥisāb so that Allah may repay every soul for what it earned. Indeed Allah is swift in reckoning. هَٰذَا بَلَاغٌ لِّلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنذَرُوا بِهِ وَلِيَعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَلِيَذَّكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ ﴿٥٢﴾ Hādhā balāghul lin-nāsi wa liyundharū bihī wa liya’lamū annamā huwa ilāhuw wāḥidunw wa liyadhdhakkara ulul-albāb This is a message for all people, so that they may be warned by it, know that He is only One God, and so that those of understanding may take heed.
