Prayer For The Soul To Rest in Peace (Male & Female)

Prayers for the soul to rest in peace (dua) in Islam are concerned with the forgiveness, mercy, and offering of the deceased a high place in paradise, usually requesting Him to pardon, enlarge their graves, and shield them against Hellfire, with the most extensive supplication seeking forgiveness, mercy, protection, and honor, as well as cleansing like white cloth to dirt, a superior abode, and access to Jannah. The general idea is the following: To Allah belong we, and to Him will we return, praying to their comfort, their forgiveness, and their happy dwelling in the Hereafter.

Key Dua for the Deceased

Prayer For The Soul To Rest in Peace—It is an extremely widespread and all-inclusive prayer that appears in genuine Hadith books such as Sahih Muslim.

Duas from the Qur’an

The power of the Quran should not be underrated, and it is not different when it comes to death. The reciting of the following sections of the Quran over the dead has all been stated to be good in hadith:

  • surat al-Fatiha (1:1-7)
  • ayat al-kursi (2:255)
  • surat Yasin (36:1-83)

Conclusion

Perhaps the loveliest and the most potent form of paying a respectful homage to a departed one would be to recite Bharat dua on behalf of the deceased whereby one seeks God mercy, forgiveness, and a spot in the heaven of the deceased.

Always remember, dua is an act of worship and like any other worship, it is supposed to be offered to Allah solely. May Allah in his infinite goodness respond to these duas and enable it to serve the departed souls on whom you are doing them.
