Surah Fussilat Transliteration and Translation

Surah Fussilat is one of those chapters of the Qur’an that many Muslims recognize by name but rarely explore in depth. It sits in the 24th juz, right in the middle of the Ha-Meem group of surahs, and it carries a message that feels surprisingly relevant today. Most people know a verse or two, but few understand why this surah was revealed or what it asks of the reader.

Meaning of Surah Fussilat

The word “Fussilat” means “explained in detail” or “distinguished.” This name comes directly from the surah’s early verses, where the Qur’an is described as a book whose signs have been made clear for people who reflect. It’s also called Ha-Meem Sajdah, because of a verse later on that calls for prostration during recitation.

Why the Surah Was Revealed

Early Muslims in Mecca faced constant rejection from their own tribe. The Quraysh mocked the Qur’an, dismissed the Prophet’s message, and refused to even listen properly. Surah Fussilat addresses this stubbornness directly, describing people who cover their ears rather than engage honestly with what they hear.

5وَقَالُوا قُلُوبُنَا فِي أَكِنَّةٍ مِمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ وَفِي آذَانِنَا وَقْرٌ وَمِنْ بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌ فَاعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَامِلُونَWa qālū qulūbunā fī akinnatin mimmā tad‘ūnā ilayhi wa fī ādhāninā waqrun wa min bayninā wa baynika ḥijābun fa‘mal innanā ‘āmilūnThey say, “Our hearts are veiled from what you call us to, in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a barrier — so act as you will, and so shall we.”
6قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَاسْتَقِيمُوا إِلَيْهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَQul innamā anā basharun mithlukum yūḥā ilayya annamā ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥidun fastaqīmū ilayhi wastaghfirūh, wa waylun lil-mushrikīnSay, “I am only a man like you; it is revealed to me that your God is One God, so take the straight path to Him and seek His forgiveness.” Woe to those who associate partners with Allah —

9قُلْ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَكْفُرُونَ بِالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَتَجْعَلُونَ لَهُ أَنْدَادًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَQul a-innakum la-takfurūna billadhī khalaqa al-arḍa fī yawmayni wa taj‘alūna lahu andādan, dhālika rabbu al-‘ālamīnSay, “Do you really disbelieve in Him who created the earth in two days, and do you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of all worlds.”
10وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ مِنْ فَوْقِهَا وَبَارَكَ فِيهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيهَا أَقْوَاتَهَا فِي أَرْبَعَةِ أَيَّامٍ سَوَاءً لِلسَّائِلِينَWa ja‘ala fīhā rawāsiya min fawqihā wa bāraka fīhā wa qaddara fīhā aqwātahā fī arba‘ati ayyāmin sawā’an lis-sā’ilīnHe placed firm mountains on it, blessed it, and ordained its provisions in four days, equally, for all who ask.
11ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَهِيَ دُخَانٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ ائْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا قَالَتَا أَتَيْنَا طَائِعِينَThumma istawā ilā as-samā’i wa hiya dukhānun fa qāla lahā wa lil-arḍi i’tiyā ṭaw‘an aw karhan qālatā ataynā ṭā’i‘īnThen He turned to the sky when it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, “Come willingly or unwillingly.” They said, “We come willingly.”
Fa-qaḍāhunna sab‘a samāwātin fī yawmayni wa awḥā fī kulli samā’in amrahā, wa zayyannā as-samā’a ad-dunyā bi-maṣābīḥa wa ḥifẓan, dhālika taqdīru al-‘azīzi al-‘alīmSo He completed them as seven heavens in two days and inspired in each heaven its command. And We adorned the lowest heaven with lamps and as protection. That is the design of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
13فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَقُلْ أَنْذَرْتُكُمْ صَاعِقَةً مِثْلَ صَاعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَFa in a‘raḍū fa qul andhartukum ṣā‘iqatan mithla ṣā‘iqati ‘Ādin wa ThamūdIf they turn away, say, “I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt that struck ‘Ād and Thamūd.”
14إِذْ جَاءَتْهُمُ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۖ قَالُوا لَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنْزَلَ مَلَائِكَةً فَإِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهِ كَافِرُونَIdh jā’at-humu ar-rusulu min bayni aydīhim wa min khalfihim allā ta‘budū illā Allāha, qālū law shā’a rabbunā la-anzala malā’ikatan fa-innā bimā ursiltum bihī kāfirūnWhen messengers came to them from before them and after them, saying, “Worship none but Allah,” they said, “If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down angels, so we disbelieve in what you have been sent with.”
15فَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً ۖ أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً ۖ وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَFa-ammā ‘Ādun fastakbarū fī al-arḍi bi-ghayri al-ḥaqqi wa qālū man ashaddu minnā quwwatan, awalam yaraw anna Allāha alladhī khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan, wa kānū bi-āyātinā yajḥadūnAs for ‘Ād, they were arrogant in the land without right and said, “Who is mightier than us in strength?” Did they not see that Allah who created them was mightier than them in strength? Yet they used to reject Our signs.
16فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي أَيَّامٍ نَحِسَاتٍ لِنُذِيقَهُمْ عَذَابَ الْخِزْيِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَخْزَىٰ ۖ وَهُمْ لَا يُنْصَرُونَFa-arsalnā ‘alayhim rīḥan ṣarṣaran fī ayyāmin naḥisātin li-nudhīqahum ‘adhāba al-khizyi fī al-ḥayāti ad-dunyā, wa la-‘adhābu al-ākhirati akhzā, wa hum lā yunṣarūnSo We sent upon them a furious wind during days of misfortune, to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in this life, but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.
17وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَىٰ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَاعِقَةُ الْعَذَابِ الْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَWa ammā Thamūdu fa-hadaynāhum fastaḥabbū al-‘amā ‘alā al-hudā fa-akhadhat-hum ṣā‘iqatu al-‘adhābi al-hūni bimā kānū yaksibūnAs for Thamūd, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.
18وَنَجَّيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَWa najjaynā alladhīna āmanū wa kānū yattaqūnAnd We saved those who believed and were mindful of Allah.
19وَيَوْمَ يُحْشَرُ أَعْدَاءُ اللَّهِ إِلَى النَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَWa yawma yuḥsharu a‘dā’u Allāhi ilā an-nāri fahum yūza‘ūnAnd on the Day the enemies of Allah are gathered to the Fire, they will be arranged in ranks.
20حَتَّىٰ إِذَا مَا جَاءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَارُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَḤattā idhā mā jā’ūhā shahida ‘alayhim sam‘uhum wa abṣāruhum wa julūduhum bimā kānū ya‘malūnUntil, when they reach it, their hearing, sight, and skins will testify against them about what they used to do.
21وَقَالُوا لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدْتُمْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ قَالُوا أَنْطَقَنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنْطَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَWa qālū li-julūdihim lima shahidtum ‘alaynā, qālū anṭaqanā Allāhu alladhī anṭaqa kulla shay’in wa huwa khalaqakum awwala marratin wa ilayhi turja‘ūnThey will say to their skins, “Why did you testify against us?” They will say, “Allah, who gives speech to all things, made us speak. He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.”
22وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَنْ يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَا أَبْصَارُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ ظَنَنْتُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَثِيرًا مِمَّا تَعْمَلُونَWa mā kuntum tastatirūna an yashhada ‘alaykum sam‘ukum wa lā abṣārukum wa lā julūdukum wa lākin ẓanantum anna Allāha lā ya‘lamu kathīran mimmā ta‘malūnYou did not conceal yourselves for fear that your hearing, sight, or skin would testify against you, but you assumed that Allah did not know much of what you were doing.
23وَذَٰلِكُمْ ظَنُّكُمُ الَّذِي ظَنَنْتُمْ بِرَبِّكُمْ أَرْدَاكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُمْ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَWa dhālikum ẓannukumu alladhī ẓanantum bi-rabbikum ardākum fa-aṣbaḥtum mina al-khāsirīnThat assumption you made about your Lord has ruined you, and you have become among the losers.
24فَإِنْ يَصْبِرُوا فَالنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَهُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ يَسْتَعْتِبُوا فَمَا هُمْ مِنَ الْمُعْتَبِينَFa-in yaṣbirū fa-an-nāru mathwan lahum, wa in yasta‘tibū fa-mā hum mina al-mu‘tabīnEven if they endure patiently, the Fire is their home; and if they seek to make amends, they will not be allowed to.
25وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَاءَ فَزَيَّنُوا لَهُمْ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَWa qayyaḍnā lahum quranā’a fa-zayyanū lahum mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum wa ḥaqqa ‘alayhimu al-qawlu fī umamin qad khalat min qablihim mina al-jinni wal-insi, innahum kānū khāsirīnWe assigned them companions who made attractive to them what was before and behind them, and the sentence has come due against them along with generations of jinn and men before them who were losers.
26وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَا تَسْمَعُوا لِهَٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ وَالْغَوْا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَغْلِبُونَWa qāla alladhīna kafarū lā tasma‘ū lihādhā al-qur’āni wal-ghaw fīhi la‘allakum taghlibūnThe disbelievers say, “Do not listen to this Quran and make noise during it that you may overcome.”
27فَلَنُذِيقَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَسْوَأَ الَّذِي كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَFa-la-nudhīqanna alladhīna kafarū ‘adhāban shadīdan wa la-najziyannahum aswa’a alladhī kānū ya‘malūnWe will surely make the disbelievers taste a severe punishment, and We will repay them for the worst of what they used to do.
Dhālika jazā’u a‘dā’i Allāhi an-nāru, lahum fīhā dāru al-khuldi, jazā’an bimā kānū bi-āyātinā yajḥadūnThat is the recompense of the enemies of Allah — the Fire. In it is their home of eternity, a reward for their rejecting Our signs.
29وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا رَبَّنَا أَرِنَا اللَّذَيْنِ أَضَلَّانَا مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ نَجْعَلْهُمَا تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِنَا لِيَكُونَا مِنَ الْأَسْفَلِينَWa qāla alladhīna kafarū rabbanā arinā alladhayni aḍallānā mina al-jinni wal-insi naj‘alhumā taḥta aqdāminā li-yakūnā mina al-asfalīnThe disbelievers will say, “Our Lord, show us those who led us astray of jinn and men, and we will put them under our feet, that they be among the lowest.”
30إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا بِالْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ تُوعَدُونَInna alladhīna qālū rabbunā Allāhu thumma istaqāmū tatanazzalu ‘alayhimu al-malā’ikatu allā takhāfū wa lā taḥzanū wa abshirū bil-jannati allatī kuntum tū‘adūnThose who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” and then remain steadfast — the angels descend upon them: “Do not fear, nor grieve, but rejoice in the Paradise you were promised.
31نَحْنُ أَوْلِيَاؤُكُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنْفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَNaḥnu awliyā’ukum fī al-ḥayāti ad-dunyā wa fī al-ākhirati, wa lakum fīhā mā tashtahī anfusukum wa lakum fīhā mā tadda‘ūnWe are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter. You will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you ask for —
32نُزُلًا مِنْ غَفُورٍ رَحِيمٍNuzulan min ghafūrin raḥīmA welcome gift from a Forgiving, Merciful Lord.”
33وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلًا مِمَّنْ دَعَا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَWa man aḥsanu qawlan mimman da‘ā ilā Allāhi wa ‘amila ṣāliḥan wa qāla innanī mina al-muslimīnAnd who is better in speech than one who calls to Allah, does righteousness, and says, “I am one of the Muslims”?
34وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ۚ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌWa lā tastawī al-ḥasanatu wa lā as-sayyi’atu, idfa‘ billatī hiya aḥsanu fa-idhā alladhī baynaka wa baynahu ‘adāwatun ka-annahu waliyyun ḥamīmGood and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better, and the one between whom and you was enmity will become like a close friend.
35وَمَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا وَمَا يُلَقَّاهَا إِلَّا ذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍWa mā yulaqqāhā illā alladhīna ṣabarū wa mā yulaqqāhā illā dhū ḥaẓẓin ‘aẓīmBut none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one of great fortune.
36وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُWa immā yanzaghannaka mina ash-shayṭāni nazghun fa-sta‘idh billāhi, innahu huwa as-samī‘u al-‘alīmAnd if an incitement from Satan should provoke you, seek refuge in Allah. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
37وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ وَالشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ ۚ لَا تَسْجُدُوا لِلشَّمْسِ وَلَا لِلْقَمَرِ وَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُنَّ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَWa min āyātihi al-laylu wan-nahāru wash-shamsu wal-qamaru, lā tasjudū lish-shamsi wa lā lil-qamari wasjudū lillāhi alladhī khalaqahunna in kuntum iyyāhu ta‘budūnAmong His signs are the night and day, the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon, but prostrate to Allah who created them, if it is Him you worship.
38فَإِنِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فَالَّذِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُونَ لَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْأَمُونَFa-ini istakbarū fa-alladhīna ‘inda rabbika yusabbiḥūna lahu bil-layli wan-nahāri wa hum lā yas’amūnEven if they are too arrogant, those who are with your Lord glorify Him night and day, and they never tire.
39وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنَّكَ تَرَى الْأَرْضَ خَاشِعَةً فَإِذَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا الْمَاءَ اهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِي أَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌWa min āyātihi annaka tarā al-arḍa khāshi‘atan fa-idhā anzalnā ‘alayhā al-mā’a ihtazzat wa rabat, inna alladhī aḥyāhā la-muḥyī al-mawtā, innahu ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīrAmong His signs is that you see the earth barren, but when We send down rain upon it, it stirs and swells. He who gives it life will surely give life to the dead. He is able to do all things.
40إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي آيَاتِنَا لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَا ۗ أَفَمَنْ يُلْقَىٰ فِي النَّارِ خَيْرٌ أَمْ مَنْ يَأْتِي آمِنًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌInna alladhīna yulḥidūna fī āyātinā lā yakhfawna ‘alaynā, afaman yulqā fī an-nāri khayrun am man ya’tī āminan yawma al-qiyāmati, i‘malū mā shi’tum, innahu bimā ta‘malūna baṣīrThose who distort Our verses are not hidden from Us. Is one who is cast into the Fire better, or one who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do as you will; He is Seeing of what you do.
41إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِالذِّكْرِ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ ۖ وَإِنَّهُ لَكِتَابٌ عَزِيزٌInna alladhīna kafarū bidh-dhikri lammā jā’ahum, wa innahu la-kitābun ‘azīzThose who disbelieve in the Reminder when it comes to them — and it is indeed a mighty Book.
42لَا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ۖ تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍLā ya’tīhi al-bāṭilu min bayni yadayhi wa lā min khalfihi, tanzīlun min ḥakīmin ḥamīdFalsehood cannot approach it from before it or behind it — a revelation from a Wise, Praiseworthy Lord.
43مَا يُقَالُ لَكَ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ قِيلَ لِلرُّسُلِ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغْفِرَةٍ وَذُو عِقَابٍ أَلِيمٍMā yuqālu laka illā mā qad qīla lir-rusuli min qablika, inna rabbaka la-dhū maghfiratin wa dhū ‘iqābin alīmNothing is said to you except what was already said to the messengers before you. Your Lord is a possessor of forgiveness and a possessor of painful punishment.
44وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا أَعْجَمِيًّا لَقَالُوا لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ ۖ أَأَعْجَمِيٌّ وَعَرَبِيٌّ ۗ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِنْ مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍWa law ja‘alnāhu qur’ānan a‘jamiyyan la-qālū lawlā fuṣṣilat āyātuhu, a-a‘jamiyyun wa ‘arabiyyun, qul huwa lilladhīna āmanū hudan wa shifā’un, wal-ladhīna lā yu’minūna fī ādhānihim waqrun wa huwa ‘alayhim ‘aman, ulā’ika yunādawna min makānin ba‘īdIf We had made it a non-Arabic recitation, they would have said, “Why are its verses not made clear? Importance of Surah Fussilat

This surah holds weight for a few clear reasons:

  • It reaffirms that the Qur’an is a fully explained, self-consistent revelation.
  • It reminds readers that patience under mockery was the Prophet’s example, not retaliation.
  • It contains one of the Qur’an’s most comforting verses about angels supporting believers at the moment of death.
  • It links belief in God with good conduct toward others, not just ritual worship.

Benefits of Surah Fussilat

People often ask about the practical benefits of Surah Fussilat, especially for daily life and spiritual routine. While no single hadith lists ranked rewards verse by verse, scholars have drawn several benefits from its themes and its history of recitation:

  • Strengthens patience — the surah models calm responses to hostility.
  • Builds trust in divine timing — its verses on the afterlife ease anxiety about outcomes.
  • Encourages honest self-reflection, since it repeatedly asks the reader to consider the signs around them.
  • Reinforces good speech, tying faith directly to how a person treats others.

Many reciters also choose Fussilat during quiet nights, since its rhythm suits slow, reflective reading rather than fast recitation.
